Buying used goods online in Nigeria is useful — and risky — when payment goes straight to a stranger’s bank account. What held payment means on Zweka
When you buy on Zweka (deal, auction win, or paid modes), you pay through our payment partners. We do not release the seller’s payout the moment you click pay. Funds sit until:
- You confirm receipt, or
- The confirmation window ends without a dispute, or
- A dispute is resolved by our team.

Buyer steps
- Find a listing — try searching for phones or sofas — and pay through Zweka checkout.
- Arrange courier or meetup as the order allows. Compare options in meetup vs courier.
- Inspect the item when it arrives. Power it on, check model numbers, open drawers, test zippers — whatever the category needs.
- Confirm in the app or on the web — then we release the seller’s payout.

Seller steps
- Verify your identity so you can publish.
- List with clear photos and an honest condition — start from Sell or manage drafts in Your listings.
- Ship or meet as agreed after the buyer pays.
- Wait for confirmation (or the auto-window) before payout lands in your bank.
Secure payouts are part of the product: you should not need to share personal account details in chat for every sale. Add a payout account under Getting paid, then let the held payment flow do the rest.
Disputes
If the item is not as described, damaged, or never arrives, either party can raise a dispute. We review chat, photos and shipping evidence, then refund, release, or split according to the facts. Holding payment means that review happens before money is gone forever. That is the opposite of a private bank transfer, where recovery is often impossible once the alert settles.
Held payment vs “pay into my account”
